Twins place Kyle Gibson and Ervin Santana on disabled list
Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN - The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have placed right-handed pitcher Kyle Gibson (retro 4/23) on the 15-day disabled list with a right shoulder strain. In addition, the Twins have placed right-handed pitcher Ervin Santana (retro 4/20) on the 15-day disabled list with a lower back strain.
To replace Gibson and Santana on the 25-man roster, the Twins have recalled infielder Jorge Polanco from Triple-A Rochester and select the contract of right-handed pitcher Jose Berrios from Triple-A Rochester. Berrios, who will wear number 17, will be looking to make his major league debut after going 2-0 with a 1.06 ERA (17.0 IP, 2 ER), eight walks and 20 strikeouts in three starts for the Red Wings. Polanco will be making his second appearance with the Twins this season, hitting .167 (1-for-6) with a double and an RBI in four games.
Both Berrios and Polanco will be in uniform and available for tonight's game against Cleveland.
