Citizens Bank & Phillies launch 2016 Phans Feeding Families hunger relief program at Citizens Bank Park

Phillies fans urged to join effort to fight hunger in the Delaware Valley at Phans Feeding Families Night on Saturday, April 30; Citizens Bank makes first donation to the cause with $40,000 contribution

Citizens Bank and the Philadelphia Phillies, along with Phillies first base coach Mickey Morandini have announced the 2016 Phans Feeding Families program. As part of the initiative, Citizens Bank last week contributed $40,000 to Philabundance, to kick off the campaign. The initiative will also collect food to help the region's largest hunger relief organization feed those at risk of hunger throughout the summer.

"Philabundance is so grateful for the Phans Feeding Families partnership which helps support the more than 90,000 people Philabundance serves each week," said Glenn Bergman, Executive Director of Philabundance. "This generous donation of $40,000 will provide 80,000 meals to children in our area who face hunger year round, and especially as summer approaches and they lose their school meals. Thanks to Citizens Bank, the Phillies, Coach Morandini and the Phans for helping feed our neighbors in need."

To support Philabundance and the 2016 Phans Feeding Families campaign, fans can:

  • Attend Phans Feeding Families Night on Saturday, April 30 when the Phillies take on the Cleveland Indians at 7:05 p.m. With each Phans Feeding Families Theme Night Ticket purchased at www.phillies.com/feedingfamilies, $8 is donated to Philabundance, putting 16 meals on the table for those in need. 

  • In addition to purchasing a Phans Feeding Families Theme Night Ticket, fans may also support the cause by participating in the following on Phans Feeding Families Night, Saturday, April 30 at Citizens Bank Park:

  • Take part in the Phillies Charities 50/50 Raffle, where a portion of the proceeds will benefit Philabundance.

  • Bid on exclusive merchandise and VIP experiences - including a breakfast with the Phillie Phanatic - through a silent auction at the First Base Plaza.

  • Bring a donation of non-perishable food. Recommended items include plastic jars of peanut butter and jelly, canned tuna and pasta. Those who donate at the entrance gates will receive a buy-one-get-one free ticket offer for a future game.

Since the initiative began in 2012, Phans Feeding Families has generated more than $375,000 for the cause. To date, with fan support, more than 750,000 meals have been provided to families in need.
