Nine royals appear on All-Star ballot as voting begins today

Major League Baseball announced today that balloting has officially begun for the 87th All-Star Game, which will be held on Tuesday, July 12 at PETCO Park, home of the San Diego Padres.

For the second-straight year, balloting will be conducted exclusively online at and all 30 club websites. Royals fans may cast their ballots at Fans can vote up to 35 times online or via mobile devices, with a maximum of five ballots per 24-hour period. Fan balloting will determine the nine position starters in the American League and eight in the National League. Ballots for the All-Star Game starters will close on Thursday, June 30. Pitchers and reserves will be selected through a combination of the "Players Ballot" choices and All-Star manager selections, with Royals manager Ned Yost and his staff leading the A.L. squad for the second-straight year. Following the announcement of All-Star rosters, fans will select a final player from each league through the 2016 MLB All-Star Game Final Vote.

The nine Royals players on the 2016 Esurance All-Star Game Ballot are: Eric Hosmer (First Base); Omar Infante (Second Base); Mike Moustakas (Third Base); Alcides Escobar (Shortstop); Salvador Perez (Catcher); Lorenzo Cain (Outfielder); Alex Gordon (Outfielder); Paulo Orlando (Outfielder); Kendrys Morales (Designated Hitter).
