LOS ANGELES -- After throwing a successful bullpen session a few days ago, reliever David Aardsma has experienced no discomfort and is continuing with his throwing plan, manager Eric Wedge said Wednesday.

While the Mariners still have no timetable on Aardsma's return, Wedge said he is coming along well since having offseason hip surgery.

"The physical side is good, but he is still getting built up," Wedge said. "He is far enough along, though, where he is with us, so that is good."

The Mariners also got encouraging news about Franklin Gutierrez, who has been suffering from stomach issues all Spring Training.

Being treated with antibiotics, Gutierrez has begun to feel better and should resume baseball activities in the near future.

In nine games this spring with Seattle, Gutierrez hit .240 with six hits and three RBIs.
