Rays To Provide Major League Experience to T-Ball Players

Rays Alumni Toby Hall, Mike DiFelice Will Serve As Honorary Coaches

Rays alumni, broadcaster Neil Solondz, in-game entertainers, mascot Raymond and the Street Team will turn a T-ball game into a major league event tomorrow, April 9.

In February, the Rays, Suncoast Credit Union and Majestic Athletic, the official uniform supplier of Major League Baseball, provided jerseys and caps to more than 10,000 T-ball players and coaches from more than 80 local leagues in nine counties.

As a follow-up, the Rays will surprise teams in the Tampa RBI program at North Seminole Little League, creating a big league experience for little Rays players. Solondz will call the game, while in-game stadium host Bobby Millikin will entertain fans and players during mid-inning breaks with games and prizes. Rays alumni Toby Hall and Mike DiFelice will assist the T-ball coaching staffs during the friendly game. Rays mascot Raymond, the Ray Team, the Street Team and a DJ will provide entertainment and giveaways throughout the day.

"Our goal is to energize the community through the magic of Rays baseball," Senior Vice President of Strategy and Development Melanie Lenz said. "We're so excited to launch this unique event, which we hope will help our T-ball players fall more in love with the game of baseball."

After the game, the Rays will throw a postgame tailgate party for players, coaches and their families with food and beverages provided by Kayem Franks, Papa John's and Pepsi.
