Blue Jays add lefty Morales with $2 million deal

The Blue Jays have signed left-hander Franklin Morales to a one-year, $2 million deal, the club announced Saturday night.

Morales, 30, spent the 2015 season with the World Series champion Royals, pitching in 67 games with a 4-2 record and a 3.18 ERA. He also made three relief appearances in the postseason for Kansas City.

Morales has pitched in parts of nine seasons in the big leagues, primarily as a reliever, with the Rockies, Red Sox and Royals. He owns a 4.52 ERA through 300 career games.

To make room on the roster, Toronto optioned right-hander Ryan Tepera to Triple-A Buffalo.
