Twins select contract of Fernando Abad

25-man roster set for Opening Day

Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN - The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have selected the contract of left-handed pitcher Fernando Abad from Triple-A Rochester.

Abad, 30, appeared in 10 games for the Twins this spring posting a 2.61 ERA (10.1 IP, 3 ER). The left-hander signed as a minor league free agent in December after spending the last two seasons with the Oakland Athletics. Abad has a career 3.72 ERA (227.1 IP, 94 ER) over 258 games with the Houston Astros, Washington Nationals and Oakland.

The Twins Opening Day roster on Monday, April 4th in Baltimore will include 12 pitchers and 13 position players.
