Eric Hosmer and Alex Gordon. Bassitt gave up seven hits and five runs overall, while throwing 100 pitches, 57 for strikes.

Reymond Fuentes delivered a two-run single in the first. Fuentes appears a lock to make the 25-man roster, and may even be in line to start the home opener on April 3.

Danny Duffy also threw two scoreless innings for the Royals.
"I feel like I lost a good four or five fastballs a little higher," Duffy said. "I corrected it with a better slide step. I got more downhill and I got it going.
"Ever since San Antonio, I've been pretty pleased with the way I've been pitching. The results aren't always there as far as the line goes, but I'm pretty pleased."
Mark Canha got the A's on the board with an RBI triple off Royals reliever David Huff in the ninth. Canha later scored on Jake Smolinski's sacrifice fly.
