Enter social media. Perez is the unmatched king of social media in the Royals' clubhouse.

Perez uses Snapchat, Twitter, Facebook, Instragam -- whatever method he can use to connect to fans, especially the youngsters.

On March 11, MLB and Snapchat are teaming up to bring fans Snapchat Day. For the first time, players will be permitted to use smartphones during games in order to send pictures and video to Snapchat.

"I really started to do them all last year," Perez said. "I like to use all of them because it makes people happy.

"It's especially fun with the little kids. They love it. A lot of people like to see what we do, to see how much fun we have in the clubhouse. And it's good with Snapchat because you can't save [the videos]."

Perez often uses Snapchat and other social-media platforms to needle friend and teammate Lorenzo Cain.

But mostly, Perez likes to connect with the fan base.

"I try to answer them all," Perez said of questions he receives from fans. "But sometimes it just gets to be too many. But I try."
