D-backs to offer free coaching clinics starting this week

The D-backs Baseball Academy, presented by Phoenix Children's Hospital, will offer four free clinics for youth baseball and softball coaches and parents around the Valley beginning this Thursday. Coaches and parents are encouraged to register for the free clinics in advance at dbacks.com/academy.

The coaching seminars at Chase Field will take place in a classroom setting and will cover D-backs coaching philosophy, practice organization/management, game management/strategy and an overview of basic fundamentals. The coaching seminars at Tempe Sports Complex and Brandon Webb Field will include on-field sessions that will give participants the opportunity to rotate through various drill stations for a hands-on experience. The seminars also include a complimentary ticket to a 2016 D-backs game for each seminar attended.

As part of the D-backs Give Back Jersey Program, this year the D-backs will provide more than 40,000 jerseys and caps, in 68 different color combinations, to youth participating in 73 leagues across the state of Arizona. Since 2014, the Arizona Diamondbacks Foundation has donated more than $2 million to the program and has more than doubled the number of youth participating in the program in just two years. The D-backs Give Back Jersey Program, in partnership with Fry's Food Stores, Tide and Western Refining, was formed to take the financial burden of uniform costs off the parents and allow any kid to participate in youth baseball and softball.
