KC extends agreement with Rookie-level Burlington

KANSAS CITY -- The Royals have confirmed they are extending their agreement with their Rookie-level affiliate in Burlington, N.C., through the 2020 season.

Burlington announced the extension several days ago.

"We are proud of our affiliation with the city of Burlington and the Burlington Royals," Royals assistant general manager J.J. Picollo said. "Our players have had a great experience while playing in Burlington, and we look forward to that continuing in the coming years."

Burlington has been a Royals Rookie-level affiliate since 2007. The B-Royals won the Appalachian League Eastern Division title in 2012 and came within one victory of the league championship that year, posting a 41-25 record.
