Start times for Royals games unveiled

KC to begin title defense in World Series rematch at 7:35 p.m. CT on April 3

KANSAS CITY -- Major League Baseball and the Royals announced start times for the 2016 season, which opens for the Royals at Kauffman Stadium on April 3 against the Mets at 7:35 p.m. CT in a rematch of the World Series won by Kansas City in five games.

The Royals' first week is a bit broken up -- they have April 4 off, play the Mets again April 5 at 3:15 p.m. before having two more days off. The Royals then open a three-game weekend set with the American League Central rival Twins.

Other highlights:

The Royals are at home on Memorial Day for a 7:15 p.m. game against the Rays.

The Royals travel to Toronto on July 4 for a 6:07 p.m. game against the Blue Jays.

The Royals return to Citi Field, where they won Game 5 of the World Series to capture their first championship since 1985, on June 21 for a 6:10 p.m. game. They conclude the two-game set June 22 at 12:10 p.m.

The Royals will meet the Twins in Minnesota on Labor Day at 1:05 p.m.
