Narveson among Marlins' NRIs to spring camp

MIAMI -- In a week in which the Marlins have made some major moves, like coming to terms with free-agent lefty Wei-Yin Chen and signing Dee Gordon to a five-year contract, the organization on Thursday announced a number of Minor League deals.

Miami now has 20 non-roster invitees to Spring Training, including lefty Chris Narveson, who will be with the organization when pitchers and catchers workouts get underway on Feb. 19 at the Roger Dean Stadium complex in Jupiter, Fla.

Narveson, a non-roster invitee last Spring Training, was on Miami's big league squad at the end of the season. The 34-year-old, who opened 2015 at Triple-A New Orleans, saw action in 15 games with the Marlins, including two starts. He finished 3-1 with a 4.45 ERA.

Several of the non-roster invitees announced on Thursday previously had been reported. Of the 20, 13 were free agents and seven are organizational players getting an invitation to camp.

Narveson is among the 13 free agents. The others are right-handers Dylan Axelrod, Paul Clemens and Dustin McGowan; lefty Troy Patton; catchers Francisco Arcia and Adrian Nieto; infielder Robert Andino; first basemen Dan Black and Xavier Scruggs; plus outfielders Destin Hood, Justin Maxwell and Kenny Wilson.

From within the organization, the Marlins are giving Spring Training opportunities to left-hander Cody Ege; catcher Sharif Othman; infielders Austin Nola, J.T. Riddle and Brady Shoemaker; and outfielders Isaac Galloway and Yefri Perez.

The Minor League invites bump up Miami's Spring Training roster to 60. Full-squad workouts begin Feb. 22.
