Giants remove Hall from 40-man roster

SAN FRANCISCO -- The Giants announced Monday that right-hander Cody Hall was designated for assignment, clearing 40-man roster room for freshly acquired outfielder Denard Span.

Hall, 28, recorded 6.48 ERA in seven appearances late last season as a rookie reliever for the Giants. Before that, he finished 1-3 with a 3.46 ERA and three saves for Triple-A Sacramento.

Hall was San Francisco's 19th-round selection in the 2011 First-Year Player Draft.
