The Atlanta Braves today announced that they will have 27 non-roster invitees in Spring Training in 2016. The list of 27 includes several of the Braves' top prospects, including right-handed pitchers Aaron Blair, Chris Ellis and Lucas Sims, left-handed pitcher Sean Newcomb, infielders Ozzie Albies and Dansby Swanson; third baseman Rio Ruiz and outfielder Braxton Davidson.
The full roster of non-roster players includes left-handed pitchers Hunter Cervenka, David Holmberg, Sean Newcomb, and Alex Torres; right-handed pitchers Aaron Blair, David Carpenter, Jhoulys Chacin, Chris Ellis, Ryan Kelly, Kyle Kendrick, Alexi Ogando, Lucas Sims, Chris Volstad and Madison Younginer; catchers Willians Astudillo, Matt Kennelly, Ryan Lavarnway, Joe Odom and Braeden Schlehuber; infielders Ozzie Albies, Reid Brignac, Chase d'Arnaud, Nate Freiman, Rio Ruiz and Dansby Swanson; and outfielders Braxton Davidson and Matt Tuiasosopo.
The Atlanta Braves have been training at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Lake Buena Vista, Florida since 1998. Pitchers and catchers report to Spring Training on Friday, February 19, while position players report on Wednesday, February 24. The first full squad workout will be held on Thursday, February 25.
