Reds re-sign Miller to Minor League contract

CINCINNATI -- Popular backup catcher Corky Miller became a free agent Wednesday, when he refused an outright assignment.

But that doesn't mean Miller's stint with the organization is over. The veteran was re-signed to a Minor League contract and was invited to Spring Training as a non-roster player.

The Reds now have 32 players on their 40-man roster.

In 32 games with the Reds this season, Miller batted .243 with two home runs and nine RBIs. He spent a majority of the season at Triple-A Louisville.

Miller is known more for his defense and calling games, and Reds pitchers had a team-best 2.86 ERA in the games he caught.
