Castro, 28, served as the Astros primary catcher for the fourth consecutive season, in what was his fifth in the Majors. He made 102 starts behind the dish and was named an AL Gold Glove finalist. Castro threw out 24-of-66 runners attempting to steal (32.3%), which marked the best caught stealing percentage by a Houston catcher since Brad Ausmus threw out 40 percent of runners attempting to steal (30-for-75) in 2001. At the plate, he tallied 11 homers, becoming the first catcher in club history to post three career double-digit home run seasons. He moved into second place on Houston's all-time home runs list by a catcher with 48, trailing only current Astros TV broadcaster Alan Ashby (69). Of his 11 homers last season, two were walk-offs (7/30 vs. LAA and 8/23 vs. LAD) and one was a grand slam (8/3 at TEX). He also moved into sixth place in club history for most starts by a catcher with 438, surpassing Hall of Famer Craig Biggio (403).
Ford enters his fourth season as the Astros radio play-by-play commentator after being named to the post on Feb. 13, 2013. Prior to joining the Astros radio broadcast team, Ford spent four seasons as the pre-and postgame host for the Kansas City Royals radio broadcasts on 610 AM KCSP, the Royals flagship station. The 2001 graduate of Syracuse University spent seven years broadcasting minor league baseball, calling more than 800 games during his stints with the Binghamton Mets, Kalamazoo Kings and Yakima Bears. Ford was twice named Frontier League Broadcaster of the Year (2003 and 2004).
