Will club re-sign Davis? Slugger remains on free-agent market

O's figure to stay busy during Winter Meetings

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The Orioles didn't need the Winter Meetings to jump-start their offseason.

Baltimore, which has already retained Matt Wieters and traded for Mark Trumbo, made headlines again on Sunday when news broke on a potential agreement with reliever Darren O'Day. While that contract is not official, and executive vice president of baseball operations Dan Duquette said there is more work to be done, there should be plenty of buzz around the O's this week in Nashville.

And the biggest buzz centers around if the club will re-sign slugger Chris Davis, who is represented by Scott Boras and has no known timeline. Boras is sure to draw a crowd at the Opryland Hotel and generate some headlines.

Beyond Davis, the O's are looking to beef up their starting rotation and are hoping for a productive few days with free-agent and trade discussions.

The coverage of that, along with Duquette's daily thoughts, will appear on orioles.com throughout this week.
