Braves agree to terms with infielder Gordon Beckham
The Atlanta Braves have agreed to terms with free-agent infielder Gordon Beckham on a one-year Major League contract for the 2016 season. Financial terms were not announced.
Beckham, 29, has played parts of seven Major League seasons with the Chicago White Sox (2009-15) and Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim (2014). He is a .242 career hitter in 865 games and has averaged 13 home runs, 57 RBI and 43 extra-base hits per 162 games played.
The Atlanta native and University of Georgia product was selected by the White Sox in the first round (eighth overall) of the 2008 draft. He made his Major League debut in 2009 and has played all but 26 games in his career with the White Sox. He split the 2014 campaign between the Sox (101 games) and Angels (26 games).
Beckham made his lone postseason appearance with the Angels in the 2014 American League Division Series against Kansas City.
