The Arizona Diamondbacks (@Dbacks) announced the hiring of Mike Ferrin as the pre- and postgame show host on the team's radio broadcasts on Arizona Sports 98.7 FM and the Arizona Diamondbacks Radio Network. Ferrin will also serve as the secondary play-by-play announcer to longtime D-backs broadcaster Greg Schulte and alongside veteran analyst Tom Candiotti.
"Mike is known throughout the game for his incredible depth of baseball knowledge, his ebullient personality and of course, his classic radio voice," said D-backs President & CEO Derrick Hall. "We are very excited to bring him into the D-backs family as part of our broadcast team."
For the past eight seasons, Ferrin has become a nationally renowned broadcaster for the Sirius/XM MLB Network Radio, serving as the host of "Power Alley." In that role, Ferrin has served as the satellite radio station's on-site host for the League Division Series, League Championship Series and annual Winter Meetings. He has also been the play-by-play broadcaster for the Arizona Fall League and Sirius/XM All-Star Futures Game for the past six seasons.
Prior to joining Sirius/XM in 2007, Ferrin was the play-by-play announcer for the Double-A Bowie Baysox, an affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles. He was previously a sports producer and reporter for WGN Radio in Chicago for seven years after holding various sports radio positions in Indiana and Iowa.
A native of Chicago, Ferrin graduated from Loras College in Dubuque, IA. He and his wife, Erika, will be relocating to the Phoenix area.
