As a part of the first-ever Giving Week, Royals Charities will visit Hope House to present a grant and necessities for the shelter.
The visit will start at 10 a.m. at the Independence, Mo. location. Royals Charities will present a grant for Hope House to replace air conditioning units in its Youth Resource Center. The shelter will also receive brand new items such as hats, gloves, scarves, and underwear, which have been collected by Royals front office employees. In addition to the grant given to Hope House, Royals Charities will be giving grants totaling $30,000 to other local domestic violence agencies including Newhouse, Rose Brooks Center and SAFEHOME.
The Kansas City Royals Alumni Association will also be donating $2,500 to each of the four domestic violence agencies. Royals alumni participating in the visit to Hope House include Jim Eisenreich, Dennis Leonard, Mike Macfarlane, Rod Myers and Marty Pattin.
Hope House's mission is to break the cycle of domestic violence by providing safe refuge and supportive services that educate and empower those impacted by domestic violence. Hope House advocates social change that protects and engenders a person's right to live a life free of abuse. The organization can house up to 122 women and children between its Independence and Lee's Summit, Mo. locations.
Royals Charities will be traveling all over the Greater Kansas City area throughout the week presenting grants to various organizations.
