The TORONTO BLUE JAYS have acquired RHP JESSE CHAVEZ from Oakland in exchange for RHP LIAM HENDRIKS.
CHAVEZ, 32, made 30 appearances (26 starts) for Oakland last season, going 7-15 with a 4.18 ERA, setting career-highs in games started, innings pitched (157.0) and equalling his strikeout total (136). Over his past two seasons Chavez has posted a 3.83 ERA after recording a 5.48 ERA in his first six years in the Majors. The Victorville, California native returns to Toronto, having appeared in nine games for the Blue Jays (two starts) during the 2012 season prior to being dealt to Oakland. In 253 career games (49 starts) he owns a 24-38 record with a 4.55 ERA for Pittsburgh, Atlanta, Kansas City, Toronto and Oakland.
