White Sox face champs as part of spring slate

CHICAGO -- The weather in Chicago soon will take a turn for the more frigid, but the White Sox presented a hope for warmer days ahead with the release of their 2016 Spring Training schedule Wednesday.

Their Cactus League season opens Thursday, March 3 as the visiting team against the Dodgers at Camelback Ranch in Glendale, Ariz., the shared ballpark of the two clubs. Their first home game is March 4 against American League Central rival Cleveland. All White Sox spring home games are scheduled to begin at 1:05 p.m. MT, except for split-squad games on March 26 vs. the Reds (12:05 p.m.) at home and a night game at the Dodgers at 7:05 p.m., also to be played at Camelback.

Cactus League games against the Cubs are March 18 at home and March 12 in Mesa. The White Sox play 14 home games at Camelback Ranch, including a contest against the World Series champion Royals on March 10. The White Sox also face the Royals in Surprise on March 5 and March 14.

The White Sox exhibition schedule finishes with games against the Padres in San Diego's Petco Park on Friday, April 1 at 9:10 p.m. CT and Saturday, April 2 at 3:10 p.m. CT. The White Sox regular season opens in Oakland on Monday, April 4.

Season-ticket plans, group offers and suites for games at Camelback Ranch are on sale at whitesox.com/spring, where fans can find additional information on ticket plans.

The Spring Training broadcast schedule and report dates will be announced at a later date. Tickets to individual Spring Training games at Camelback Ranch go on sale Jan. 11. All White Sox Spring Training information is available at whitesox.com/spring. The schedule is subject to change.
