And Wednesday's matchup between Peoria and Salt River offers another opportunity to view some of the top prospects in this year's Fall League.
MLB Network and MLB.com will carry the game live tonight, beginning at 9:05 p.m. ET at Salt River Fields, and it will be called by MLBPipeline.com's Jim Callis along with MLB Network's Paul Severino.
Live stream of tonight's game
Mariners left-hander James Paxton, who has pitched parts of the last three seasons in the Major Leagues, is set to make his fifth Fall League start for Peoria. The 27-year-old posted a 3.90 ERA in 67 innings across 13 starts for Seattle during the regular season, but he also spent nearly four months on the disabled list with a strained tendon in his left middle finger. Blue Jays right-hander Jeremy Gabryszwski will take the mound for Salt River after allowing a combined three earned runs in 10 innings between his last two starts.
Paxton could have to contend with a pair of dangerous hitters in Blue Jays No. 7 prospect Rowdy Tellez, who leads the Rafters with three home runs, and outfielder Raimel Tapia (.311 average), the Rockies' No. 8 prospect. Gabryszwski also will have his work cut out for him as he's tasked with facing Reds No. 11 prospect Phil Ervin, fresh off earning AFL Hitter of the Week honors, and first baseman D.J. Peterson, the Mariners' No. 3 prospect, who currently paces the Javelinas with three home runs and 11 RBIs. The following are position players positioned in their respective MLB team's list of Top 30 prospects:
