Royals add outfielder Martinez to 40-man roster

The Royals have activated outfielder Jose Martinez from Triple-A Omaha and added him to the 40-man roster.

Martinez won the Pacific Coast League batting title this year with a .384 average. In 98 games with Omaha, Martinez scored 57 runs, drove in 60 and recorded 25 doubles. He also hit 10 home runs.

The 27-year-old will be making his Major League debut when he appears in a game for the Royals.
