KANSAS CITY -- Blue Jays second baseman Ryan Goins, one of the more underrated defensive players in the game, orchestrated perhaps the slickest play on Friday night in Game 1 of the American League Championship Series against the Royals, who won, 5-0.
With one out, runners on the corners and Toronto hoping to keep its deficit within three in the bottom of the sixth, Goins ranged to his right, fielded a grounder by Mike Moustakas and made a perfect glove flip across his body to second base.
