AFL stars set for Bowman Hitting Challenge

MESA, AZ -- Get ready for some big swings and some long-distance scoring.

The Arizona Fall League will stage its third annual Bowman Hitting Challenge on Saturday night, and several of the league's top prospects will have a chance to claim the crown. The competition rewards players for hitting batting-practice rounds out of the ballpark, and for hitting targets within the field of play.

•'s Top 100 Prospects List

Last year, the competition was won by Royals' prospect Hunter Dozier, who went on to hit 12 home runs for Double-A Northwest Arkansas during the 2015 season. The '13 contest was won by catching prospect Peter O'Brien, who made his big league debut for the D-backs this season.
