The TORONTO BLUE JAYS have selected outfielder TRAVIS SNIDER with the Club's first round selection, the 14th pick overall, in the 2006 MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL FIRST YEAR PLAYER DRAFT.
Born February 2, 1988, SNIDER led Jackson High School in his hometown Mill Creek, Washington to a 27-0 record and the State Championship this spring. The 6'0' 230 lb. outfielder, scouted by area scout BRANDON MOZLEY, batted .500 with a school record 11 home runs and 45 RBI this season.
SNIDER is the first high school student drafted in the first round by the BLUE JAYS since OF MIGUEL NEGRON (2000). He is the ninth outfielder selected by the Club with its first round pick. Past outfielders selected in the first round by the BLUE JAYS include current starters VERNON WELLS (5TH pick, 1997) and ALEX RIOS (19th pick, 1999).
