CHICAGO - The White Sox announced a special giveaway, offering a "Stretch Sale" Action Figure available only to the first 10,000 fans to enter U.S. Cellular Field on Saturday, October 3, as the team takes on the Detroit Tigers at 6:10 p.m.
The new promotional item portrays White Sox ace Chris Sale as he is delivering a pitch. Modeled after the popular Stretch Armstrong toy of the 1970s, the action figure allows you to stretch and bend Sale's arms and legs.
"Chris Sale is a fan favorite and one of the best pitchers in baseball. We wanted to create a fun and unique way to salute his individual pitching approach and unique style," said Brooks Boyer, White Sox senior vice president of sales and marketing. "We are always looking for new ways to connect our players with our fans and think this will be a hit."
Sale has had an impressive 2015 campaign with 247 strikeouts this season, which is on pace to surpass a franchise record set by Ed Walsh with 269 strikeouts in 1908. Earlier this season, he struck out 10-plus batters in eight straight starts, tied with Hall-of-Famer Pedro Martinez for the longest streak in major-league history. Sale also joined left-hander Billy Pierce (1955-59) as the only pitchers in White Sox history to make at least four straight American League All-Star Teams.
Tickets for all games are available at whitesox.com, the U.S. Cellular Field ticket office (Monday-Friday from 10 a.m.-6 p.m.; Saturday-Sunday 10 a.m.-4 p.m.) or by calling 866-SOX-GAME.
