Mariners recall RHP Danny Farquhar from AAA Tacoma

LHP Edgar Olmos optioned to AAA Tacoma post-game September 6.

SEATTLE, Wash. - The Seattle Mariners announced the following roster moves prior to today's game vs. Texas Rangers. Mariners Assistant General Manager Jeff Kingston made the announcement.

  •          Danny Farquhar, RHP, recalled from AAA Tacoma
  •          Edgar Olmos, LHP, optioned to AAA Tacoma (post-game 9/6)

Farquhar (#40) will be active for today's 3:40 pm PT game vs. the Rangers at Safeco Field.

Farquhar, 28, has made 30 appearances in four separate stints with Seattle this season. The right-hander is 0-4 with 1 save and a 5.75 ERA (23 ER, 36.0 IP) with the Mariners. In his last stint in Seattle (Aug. 5-22) Farquhar was 0-1 with 1 save and a 3.18 ERA (2 ER, 5.2 IP) in 5 games.

In 25 appearances with AAA Tacoma he was 1-1, 3.08 ERA (13 ER, 38.0 IP). In his most recent stint in the Pacific Coast League (Aug. 23-Sept. 6) he appeared in 5 games, posting a 0.00 ERA (0 ER, 5.2 IP) with 5 strikeouts. He made his last appearance Sept. 3 at Salt Lake City tossing 1.1 shutout innings.

Olmos, 25, was 1-0, 4.50 (7 ER, 14.0 IP) in 6 games, 2 starts, with the Mariners this season. He allowed 6 hits and 5 earned runs in 1.1 innings pitched in his last start, Sept. 4 at Oakland. He is 1-1, 3.55 in 20 games, 2 starts, with the Rainiers this season.

Olmos was on the disabled list from April 3-May 20 with a left shoulder impingement. The injury caused him to miss all of spring training, as well. Olmos was acquired by Seattle from the Miami Marlins via a waiver claim on Nov. 20, 2014.
