The Orioles today announced that they have recalled OF JUNIOR LAKE and RHP JORGE RONDON from Triple-A Norfolk, reinstated RHP MIKE WRIGHT from the 15-day disabled list, and placed RHP MIGUEL GONZALEZ on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to August 31, with right shoulder tendinitis.
Lake, 25, batted a combined .311/.409/.454 (74-238) with 13 doubles, seven home runs, and 34 RBI in 70 games with the Tides and Triple-A Iowa Cubs. In 24 Major League games this season with the Orioles and Chicago Cubs, Lake has hit .208/.250/.333 (15-72) with six doubles, a home run, and five RBI. He was acquired by the Orioles from the Chicago Cubs on July 31 in exchange for RHP Tommy Hunter.
Rondon, 27, went 3-1 with a 2.33 ERA (54.0IP, 14ER) and 46 strikeouts in 30 games with Triple-A Norfolk this season. In 35 combined games with the Tides and Triple-A Albuquerque this season, he posted a 2.23 ERA (60.2IP, 15ER) with 50 strikeouts. Rondon has made five Major League appearances this season between the Orioles and Colorado Rockies after being claimed off waivers by Baltimore from Colorado on May 10.
Wright, 25, made two Major League rehabilitation starts with Triple-A Norfolk after being placed on the 15-day DL on August 1 with a left calf strain. He allowed one earned run over 10.0 innings (0.90 ERA), while walking three and striking out four in those two rehab starts. In seven games (six starts) with the Orioles this season, Wright has gone 2-3 with a 4.99 ERA (30.2IP, 17ER). He made his Major League debut on May 17 vs. Los Angeles (AL), tossing 7.1 scoreless innings and earning the win.
Gonzalez, 31, went 9-11 with a 4.85 ERA (141.0IP, 76ER) and eight Quality Starts in 25 starts with the Orioles this season.
