"Just discomfort in there and weak," Bassitt said on Tuesday afternoon. "It's the end of the year, everyone's tired, everyone's sore, I'm just a little bit more than normal. We just decided to get it strong again, get it stable again, and then go from there."
Reliever Evan Scribner is also dealing with a shoulder issue and was scheduled to be seen by doctors on Tuesday. Manager Bob Melvin specified the injury as a scapula problem and said, "At the very least, it's going to be a few days."
Scribner faced one batter in Monday's series-opening win against the Angels, striking out Mike Trout, before departing with a team trainer by his side.
• Billy Burns (right wrist) wasn't in the starting lineup Tuesday, sidelined alongside the banged-up Coco Crisp and Sam Fuld, who is still bothered by intermittent back spasms. Melvin hopes to rest Fuld through Thursday's off-day.
