Indians add three (3) players as rosters expand

The Cleveland Indians today announced the following roster moves relative to the Major League roster:

Recalled RHP SHAWN ARMSTRONG (#51) from AAA Columbus.

Activated RHP GAVIN FLOYD (#26) from the 60-day Disabled List.

Activated INF CHRIS JOHNSON (#30) from the 15-day Disabled List.

Armstrong, 24, is beginning his second stint with the Indians in 2015, working two scoreless appearances from August 8-14 (2.2IP, 0H, 0R, 1BB, 4K) in his debut at the Major League level. Around his one-week tenure in Cleveland he posted a mark of 1-2 with a 2.36 ERA and 16 saves in 46 relief appearances in AAA Columbus (49.2IP, 37H, 13ER, 0HR, 26BB, 80K, .206 avg.). He is currently tied for 5th in games and 4th in saves among International League relief pitchers. He did not allow a run over his last 5 outings (4.2IP, 2H, 11K) with Columbus.

Floyd, 32, is making his 2015 Indians debut after spending the entire season to date on the 60-day Disabled List after suffering a re-fracture of his right elbow (olecranon) on March 10 after feeling persistent soreness in the elbow in spring training. He underwent surgery to stabilize the fracture on March 16 in Cleveland and rehabbed between Cleveland and Goodyear, Arizona before making three Minor League rehab starts between the Arizona Rookie League Indians and Double-A Akron, beginning on August 19.

Johnson, 30, was placed on the 15-day D.L. on August 18 (retro. To 8/15) with a left index finger infection after hitting .429 (9-21) with 3 runs and 3 doubles over his first six games with the Indians. He was acquired from the Atlanta Braves on August 7 in exchange for Michael Bourn and Nick Swisher. He appeared in 2 rehab games (1-for-7, run) with Akron over the weekend.

The 40-man roster is at 40 players.
