Alvarez records first Major League hit

ARLINGTON -- Dariel Alvarez collected his first Major League hit in the fifth inning of Saturday's 4-3 loss to the Rangers, delivering a one-out double off Texas starter Martin Perez. His double came in his second at-bat on Saturday as part of a three-run fifth that saw Baltimore tie the score.

Alvarez, whose contract was selected from Triple-A Norfolk on Friday, went 2-for-3 with a walk and a run scored.
