A's recall RHP Brooks from Nashville; option IF Muncy to Nashville

OAKLAND, Calif. - The Oakland A's have recalled right-handed pitcher Aaron Brooks from Triple-A Nashville and optioned infielder Max Muncy to Nashville, the team announced today.

Brooks joins the A's for the second time this year and is scheduled to start Saturday's game in Arizona. He was 1-1 with a 6.19 ERA in four games, three starts, in his first stint. He was optioned Aug. 15 and was 1-0 with a 2.25 ERA in two starts for the Sounds. Brooks was acquired from the Kansas City Royals with minor league pitcher Sean Manaea on July 28 for Ben Zobrist and cash considerations. He was assigned to Nashville but did not pitch before his promotion to Oakland Aug. 1.

Muncy was recalled from Nashville Monday for his third stint with the A's this year and was 1-for-1 in one game as a pinch hitter. He is batting .217 with two home runs and six RBI in 36 games with the A's overall. He is also batting .268 with four home runs and 27 RBI in 50 games for the Sounds.
