SEATTLE, Wash. - Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager of Baseball Operations Jack Zduriencik announced today that RHP Fernando Rodney had been traded to the Chicago Cubs in exchange for cash considerations.
Rodney had been designated for assignment by Seattle on Sunday, August 23.
Rodney, 38, went 5-5 with a 5.68 ERA in 54 relief appearances this season, including 16-for-22 in save opportunities. Rodney was an All-Star with Seattle in 2014 setting a single-season club record with 48 saves.
