D-backs select Jhoulys Chacín from Triple-A Reno to start tonight's game, option Zack Godley to Double-A Mobile

PHOENIX - The Arizona Diamondbacks (@Dbacks) selected right-handed pitcher Jhoulys Chacín (@Jhoulys45) from Triple-A Reno to start tonight's game, optioned right-handed pitcher Zack Godley to Double-A Mobile and designated outfielder Danny Dorn for assignment, as announced by D-backs Sr. Vice President & General Manager Dave Stewart.

Chacín, 27, signed with the D-backs as a Minor League free agent on June 20 and in 12 starts for Triple- Reno went 5-3 with a 3.39 ERA (30 ER in 79.2 IP) and 6 quality outings. He began the season with Triple-A Columbus (Indians) and went 6-6 with a 3.33 ERA (121.2 IP) in 19 starts between Columbus and Reno this season.

The 6-foot-3, 215-pound, right-handed pitcher will wear No. 47 in his D-backs debut. He has appeared in 124 career games (109 starts) for Colorado, going 38-48 with a 3.78 ERA (282 ER in 672.0 IP) and 514 strikeouts. Chacín ranks among Rockies franchise leaders in strikeouts (7th), wins (8th), games started (8th) and innings pitched (8th), and was the club's Opening Day starter in 2013. He was signed by Colorado as a Minor League free agent on Sept. 27, 2004.

Godley, 25, went 4-0 with a 1.90 ERA (5 ER in 23.2 IP), 22 strikeouts and a .220 opponent average (18-for-82) in 5 games (3 starts) for Arizona. He is the second D-backs starter to win his first 3 Major League outings (also: Chase Anderson in 2014).

Dorn, 31, hit .167 (5-for-30) with 1 double and 3 RBI in 23 games for the D-backs.
