Key things to watch for in today's games

Several marquee games are on the docket Sunday throughout Major League Baseball. Here are a few to watch:

Duel in Houston: LAD @ HOU, 2:10 p.m. ET
Astros fans have already seen a no-hitter and this season's best pitcher in Zack Greinke this weekend. On Sunday, three-time National League Cy Young Award winner Clayton Kershaw takes the mound, and he's been on a roll -- sporting an 0.82 ERA in his last seven starts.

It should be quite a duel, as Houston counters with rookie right-hander Lance McCullers, who's looking to rebound from the worst start of his career. McCullers gave up six runs and recorded just one out in his last outing against Texas.

Pirates host Giants: SF @ PIT, 8:08 p.m.
The Giants are chasing the Cubs for the second NL Wild Card spot, but any win against a fellow postseason contender helps. The Pirates remain comfortably atop the Wild Card standings, while the Giants are the odd squad out in the three-team race.

Lefty Francisco Liriano (8-6, 3.35 ERA) starts for the Pirates, while San Francisco counters with right-hander Ryan Vogelsong (9-8, 3.93).

Liriano fans five, adds RBI hit

AL Wild Card jockeying continues: TOR @ LAA, 3:35 p.m.
The Blue Jays and Angels -- two of the key contenders in the AL Wild Card race -- conclude a three-game series Sunday in Anaheim. The Halos start right-hander Garrett Richards, who's spun three consecutive quality starts, while the Jays send knuckleballer R.A. Dickey to the hill.

Richards earns win No. 12
