The Mets will likely primarily utilize Young as pinch-runner over the remainder of the season. The 30-year-old outfielder is targeted to spend the next week playing for Triple-A Las Vegas and then join New York when Major League rosters expand in September.
Young batted .169 with a .502 OPS in the 85 plate appearances he collected for Atlanta. He played each of the past two seasons for the Mets before being non-tendered in December.
