Weaver notches third straight scoreless start for Palm Beach

The train keeps rolling for Luke Weaver, who posted 5 1/3 scoreless innings for Class A Advanced Palm Beach on Monday night.

St. Louis' No. 9 prospect recorded seven strikeouts against no walks while scattering six hits against Jupiter. Weaver, 21, has not given up a run in his past three outings (18 1/3 total innings) and has surrendered just three earned runs in his past eight starts (47 total innings).

That latter run has cut his ERA from 2.97 to 1.67 and he's rebounded well from a rough first professional season in 2014. Drafted No. 27 overall last summer, he surrendered eight runs in 9 1/3 innings on his way to finishing 0-1 with a 7.71 ERA in six starts.

Weaver has been dominant in K-to-BB ratio in 2015. After Monday's performance, he has 77 strikeouts against 15 walks for the Cardinals.
