Rockies recall Germen, Roberts; option Butler
The Colorado Rockies announced Friday that they have recalled RHP Gonzalez Germen and LHP Ken Roberts from Triple-A Albuquerque, and have optioned RHP Eddie Butler to Triple-A Albuquerque. Additionally, the Rockies placed LHP Boone Logan on the 15-day disabled list with left elbow inflammation, retroactive to Wednesday, August 12.
- Germen, 27, will be joining the Rockies for his second stint of 2015 … was initially acquired off waivers from the Chicago Cubs on July 7, and made his Rockies debut in a start against Atlanta on July 10 at Coors Field … in eight appearances with the Rockies this season, is 0-0 with a 4.63 ERA (11.2 IP, 6 ER) including six walks and nine strikeouts … has made 15 total appearances between Chicago and Colorado, and is 0-0 with a 5.60 ERA (17.2 IP, 11 ER) with 11 walks and 17 strikeouts … with three relief appearances for Albuquerque this season, is 0-0 with a 2.70 ERA (3.1 IP, 1 ER) with one walk and four strikeouts … in 27 total Minor League games in 2015, is 5-1 with four saves and a 3.68 ERA (36.2 IP, 15 ER) including 18 walks and 41 strikeouts.
- Roberts, 27, will also be on his second stint for the Rockies this season … made his Major League debut on May 3 at San Diego, pitching a scoreless eighth inning against the Padres … has made eight appearances for the Rockies, and is 0-0 with a 5.00 ERA (9.0 IP, 5 ER) including two walks and five strikeouts … in 21 appearances for Albuquerque, is 1-3 with a 4.55 ERA (29.2 IP, 15 ER) with four walks and 24 strikeouts.
- Butler, 24, was on the Opening Day roster for the Rockies, and is 3-10 with a 5.90 ERA (79.2 IP, 52 ER), 42 walks, and 44 strikeouts in 16 starts over the course of two stints with the Rockies this season … in six starts for Albuquerque this season, is 2-2 with a 6.27 ERA (33.0 IP, 23 ER), 16 walks, and 22 strikeouts.
- Logan, 31, was on the Opening Day roster for the Rockies, and is 0-2 with a 4.75 ERA (30.1 IP, 16 ER) with 16 walks and 38 strikeouts in 2015 … is making his first trip to the disabled list since coming off the 60-day on November 3, 2014 after suffering left elbow inflammation.
Roberts will wear #67, and Germen will once again wear #62.
The Rockies currently have a full 40-man roster.
