Twins place Boyer on disabled list
Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN - The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have placed right-handed pitcher Blaine Boyer on the 15-day disabled list with right elbow inflammation (retro 8/9). Boyer has appeared in 51 games this season, going 2-4 with a 2.98 ERA (48.1 IP, 16 ER), 15 walks and 25 strikeouts.
To replace Boyer on the 25-man roster, the Twins have recalled right-handed pitcher Michael Tonkin from Triple-A Rochester. Tonkin appeared in 16 games for the Twins this season, over three different stints, posting a 5.73 ERA (11.0 IP, 7 ER), with five walks and 10 strikeouts.
