White Sox remind fans to arrive early for weekend series vs. Cubs

White Sox fans attending games this weekend at U.S. Cellular Field are encouraged to arrive early as gates will open two hours prior to first pitch to allow ample time for entry into the ballpark.

The series begins on Friday with a special tribute to the late legends of each team - Minnie Minoso and Ernie Banks. The White Sox will wear the 1959 home jerseys with Minoso's No. 9. The Cubs also will wear the 1959 road jerseys to honor Banks. The White Sox wore the uniforms, widely recognized as the "1959 jerseys," while Minoso played with the team from 1951-57 and 1960-1961. In addition, the White Sox will show a special video tribute at the after the first inning to honor Minoso and Banks.

The first 10,000 fans attending Friday's game will receive a White Sox Jersey Rally Towel, presented by United Airlines.

Additional events will be taking place throughout the city that may impact traffic, including the Air and Water Show on Saturday and Sunday at North Avenue Beach from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Fans are encouraged to consider public transportation.
