Travis Tims named 2015 California League Athletic Trainer of the Year

OAKLAND, Calif. - Stockton Ports athletic trainer Travis Tims has been named the 2015 California League Athletic Trainer of the Year by the Professional Baseball Athletic Trainers Society (PBATS).

The award was voted on by Tims' fellow California League athletic trainers. He is now eligible to be recognized as the PBATS Minor League Athletic Trainer of the Year.

"The Oakland Athletics are extremely proud of the fact that Travis Tims' outstanding performance and service to our staff and players over the years has been recognized by his peers this year in the California League," said Keith Lieppman, A's Director of Player Development.

Tims is in his third season as athletic trainer with Stockton after spending the 2012 season with Single-A Burlington. He previously served in the same role for short-season teams in Vermont (2011) and Vancouver (2008-10), where he was named Northwest League Athletic Trainer of the Year in 2010. He interned with the Seattle Mariners Arizona Rookie League team in 2007. Tims obtained his degree in exercise and sports science at Oregon State University. He is a native of Santa Fe, N.M.
