A's acquire RHP Dawrin Frias from the Mets as the PTBNL in O'Flaherty trade

OAKLAND, Calif. - The Oakland A's acquired minor league right-handed pitcher Dawrin Frias from the New York Mets, the club announced today. Frias is the player to be named later in the Aug. 4 trade in which the A's sent left-handed pitcher Eric O'Flaherty and cash to the Mets.

Frias began the season in extended spring training before he was sent to Single-A Savannah May 5. He went 0-2 with a save and an 8.71 ERA in 15 relief appearances with the Sand Gnats before being transferred to Short-Season Single-A Brooklyn July 19. The 23-year-old right-hander logged a 3.38 ERA in four relief appearances with the Cyclones and has a 7.23 ERA in 19 appearances overall. Frias was originally signed by the Mets Oct. 9, 2008 as a non-drafted free agent out of the Dominican Republic.
