Toronto's Sanchez, Gibbons disciplined

Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Aaron Sanchez has received a three-game suspension and an undisclosed fine for intentionally throwing a pitch at Alcides Escobar of the Kansas City Royals with warnings in place during the top of the eighth inning of the Sunday, August 2nd game between the Clubs at Rogers Centre in Toronto. Joe Garagiola Jr., Senior Vice President of Standards & On-Field Operations for Major League Baseball, made the announcement.

Sanchez's suspension is scheduled to begin tonight, when the Blue Jays are to continue a home series against the Minnesota Twins. If he elects to file an appeal, then the discipline will be held in abeyance until the process is complete.

In addition, Blue Jays manager John Gibbons has received a one-game suspension for coming back on to the field following his seventh inning ejection. Gibbons will serve his suspension during tonight's game against the Twins.
