Dodgers Reinstate A.J. Ellis

LOS ANGELES - The Los Angeles Dodgers today reinstated catcher A.J. Ellis from the disabled list (right knee inflammation) and optioned catcher Austin Barnes to Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Prior to his injury, Ellis had hit safely in six consecutive games, going 8-for-20 (.400) with a double, two homers and four RBI since July 1. After getting off to a slow start to the season, he has posted a .319/.429/.511 slashline in his last 17 games since May 26 and is batting .222 overall with two home runs and seven RBI in 32 games.

Barnes has appeared in nine games with the Dodgers in his first MLB season, going 4-for-15 (.267).
