Mariners option newly-acquired Ramirez

DENVER -- Jose Ramirez, a right-handed reliever acquired last Thursday from the Yankees, was optioned to Triple-A Tacoma after the Mariners' 8-7 victory over the Rockies on Monday.

Ramirez had yet to pitch for the Mariners. Another reliever will be recalled on Tuesday to take his spot.

Ramirez made three relief appearances for the Yankees earlier this season, but has pitched most of the year for Triple-A Scranton, posting a 2.90 ERA with 10 saves in 32 outings.

Ramirez and outfielder Ramon Flores were acquired in a trade for outfielder Dustin Ackley. Flores has already reported to Tacoma and has hit .438 (7-for-16) in four games.
