Giants look for Posey to return Monday

SAN FRANCISCO -- Buster Posey's mildly strained left elbow kept him out of the Giants' lineup for the second day in a row Sunday, though manager Bruce Bochy sounded hopeful that the rookie catcher could return for Monday's series opener against the Colorado Rockies.

Posey said that he felt "all right" after hitting balls off a tee on Sunday morning. But the Giants maintained a cautious approach.

"We feel he needs another day [off] so he doesn't re-injure it or make it worse," Bochy said.

Posey, batting .329 with 10 home runs and 49 RBIs, hurt himself during his second at-bat Friday night against Arizona.

The Giants own a 43-32 record in the games Posey has started, including 27-18 when he catches.
