Twins to place Milone on Disabled List
Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN - The Minnesota Twins announced that they will place left-handed pitcher Tommy Milone on the 15-day disabled list with a mild left elbow strain (retro 8/1).
To replace Milone on the 25-man roster, the Twins will select the contract of right-handed pitcher Tyler Duffey from Triple-A Rochester prior to Monday's game in Toronto. Duffey, who will make his major league debut with the start on Wednesday, made 21 starts between Double-A Chattanooga and Triple-A Rochester this season. The Houston-native has posted a 6-8 record with a 2.66 ERA (132.0 IP, 39 ER), 30 walks and 117 strikeouts while holding opponents to a .235 batting average between the two levels. The 6-foot-3, 220-pound right-hander was originally selected by the Twins in the fifth round of the 2012 First-Year Player Draft out of Rice University.
To make room on the 40-man roster for Duffey, the Twins will transfer right-handed pitcher Ryan Pressly to the 60-day disabled list.
